We love the holidays and are so excited to pull out our decorations and get into the holiday spirit! There are many holiday events in the area, and Christmas Parades are no exception! The Raleigh Area Christmas Parades are free and fun for the entire family. Share the joy of the season with your local community this year with some of these upcoming parades.

The WRAL Raleigh Christmas Parade was last Saturday, November 22nd at 9:40 AM. This year’s parade featured 115 different groups from around the area including local businesses, high school bands, the NC State University band, Carolina Roller Girls, and of course a special appearance by Santa Claus himself!

It is always impressive to watch the various performances, floats, and large helium balloons in this 1.2 mile parade march through some of the main streets in downtown Raleigh. As the 70th annual parade, this year’s parade was one of the biggest parades between Washington DC and Atlanta!

But what if you missed the Raleigh Parade? Don’t worry, you aren’t out of luck! Take advantage of some of the other upcoming Raleigh Area Christmas Parades, including the Apex Christmas Parade, the Holly Springs Parade, and the Cary Christmas Parade.

Cary Jaycee Christmas Parade
Saturday, December 13th at 2pm

Downtown Cary will be bright on cheerful over the weekend, mostly thanks for the spectacular annual Christmas parade. A buzz of excitement is to be expected in the air as the paraders get ready to ride their sparkling Christmas floats down the street for your entertainment. The Cary Christmas parade has been going on for 35 consecutive years and never disappoints with involvement from several local businesses, community groups, mascots, bands, and churches.

Tips and Safety for Parade-Goers

To make sure everyone will have a great time at the parade, practice these basic safety tips when you attend.

It’s best to get to any of these parades early if you want to get a good viewing place, but also because this will help you stick together with whoever is watching alongside you. If you’re bringing your family, small children should be carried through the crowds until you find a nice spot, to avoid separation from the family.

Make sure your whole group knows where to meet up after the parade, just in case you do get separated from each other. Be careful not to get too close to the parade, because the participants won’t be expecting anyone in their path. Even when your kids get excited to see everything, remind them not to get any closer than the boundaries of the road!

We hope you get the chance to make this holiday season a memorable one with a trip out to your local Christmas parade.
