If you’re like us, you LOVE holiday festivities and beautifully decorated homes. ‘Tis the Season to enjoy some of the Holiday Home Tours around the area and find the inspiration to dress your home in it’s Christmas Finest!

The tours are annual events that feature different historical sites and homes from the community, allowing visitors to tour the inside of each house and hear a wonderful recap of the history that makes it special. 

Historic Oakwood in Raleigh

One of the most famous holiday home tours in Raleigh is the Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour.

historic oakwood holiday home toursOakwood is home to some of the most beautiful Victorian architecture in Raleigh, with some of the homes dating back to the 1800s. The annual tour is your chance to explore these treasures for yourself and admire the gorgeous buildings all covered in Christmas cheer.

Feel free to take your time, you will be touring at your own pace from home to home. No guide is necessary, as there is a docent in each building to give you some of the home’s history.

Tickets can be purchased in advance here or at the time of the event, which runs on Saturday, December 13th and Sunday, December 14th from 1-7pm both days.

While you’re in the area, make sure stop by the Raleigh Governor’s mansion for a holiday open house and enjoy the live music and beautiful Christmas atmosphere there as well. The open house is free, and it runs from December 11th to December 14th, noon-8pm Thursday, 10am-5pm Friday, 2-8pm Saturday, and 1-4pm Sunday. 

Apex Historical Holiday Home Tour

The annual Apex Historical Holiday Home Tour is taking place on Sunday, December 7th from 1-5pm.

apex holiday home toursExperience the beautiful homes, churches, and the old train station Apex fully decorated for the holiday season. Enjoy refreshments at the Maynard-Pearson house after the tour, a great way to end a fun-filled day!

Christmas Historic Home Tour in Wake Forest

Don’t miss this year’s biennial holiday home tour in Wake Forest, NC! The event takes place on Saturday, December 6th, from 1-7pm.historic-home-tour-logo-2014

This is a self-guided tour with several homes and properties open for viewing. Ticket purchase also includes free horse-drawn carriage and bicycle rickshaw rides, holiday music, and more!

 Purchase tickets in advance here or on the day of the tour. 

After the tour, visit downtown Wake Forest for their annual Christmas open-house and enjoy live music and entertainment. Complimentary refreshments will also be given out by some of the local stores, so get into the local Christmas spirit and support our small businesses!
